Audi has conducted a shakedown of their 2026 Formula 1 car at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona, Spain. It was the first time we got to see an F1 car running the latest generation engine driving around a racetrack.

Works Audi drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto put some miles on the Audi R26 F1 car during the filming session, while we got the chance to listen to the new engine on track for the first time.

The FIA has made some significant changes to the F1 engine for the 2026 season. While the 1.6-liter V6 turbo hybrid has been retained, the output of the internal combustion engine has been reduced, while that of the electric motor has tripled, for a 50-50 power split.

The complex MGU-H has been scrapped. The Energy Recovery System (ERS) can now recharge the battery with twice as much energy per lap.

Audi Revolut F1 will unveil their R26 Formula 1 car in Berlin on January 20, ahead of the first pre-season test scheduled for January 26-30.

Nissan, Honda announce plans to merge, creating world’s No. 3 Automaker
